Michael D. Conner is a 1974 graduate of the University of Houston’s Fine Arts program and a 1986 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center. After obtaining his law degree, Mike was a law clerk to the late Honorable Ross N. Sterling, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. Mike also clerked for the Honorable Karen K. Brown, then a United States Magistrate, now a United States Bankruptcy Judge here in the Southern District.
A twenty year litigator concentrating on civil matters, Mike has represented a number of financial institutions, the FDIC, securities brokers, and local businesses and individuals. He has represented clients in state courts, federal courts, Texas administrative agency proceedings and in arbitration. Cases he has handled include contracts, construction law, oil & gas related issues, lien disputes, misappropriation of business opportunity, service mark infringement, real estate commission/co-brokerage claims, wrongful death, products liability, premises liability, consumer law, employment law, insurance coverage, attorney malpractice, family law, and probate issues.
For the past eight years, the bulk of Mike’s practice has been in the appellate courts. In more than fifty cases, he has appeared in thirteen of the Texas’s fourteen Courts of Appeals, presented oral argument in nine of the fourteen courts, and has handled matters before the Texas Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
